Jake's Place & Offutt's Wheels

English Spoken Here

We are Jake's Place & Offutt's Wheels English Tack and Wear located in Petaluma, California. It is our goal to serve all your English Riding needs and offer a variety of Strap Goods/Equipment, Apparel, Horse Clothing and Vet Supplies. We carry most well-known names such as Grand Prix, Ariat, Edgewood, Herm Sprenger, and Arc de Triomphe to name a few.

We started out in business some 40 years ago quite by accident. It started out as a hobby that would develop into a full-blown passion that not only would consume our lives, but become a way of life. My Grandparents (Bob and Dee Offutt) both rode and showed Saddleseat. At that time, here on the West Coast, any request for English Riding Equipment was usually met with a "What?", and a blank, unknowing stare - really... No one knew what it was, and no one really seemed interested in carrying it either.

and so it began...

It started out in a camper at horse shows. As they began increasing their inventory it moved into their home; first on the back porch and gradually (very quickly) into the living room, 2nd bedroom and kitchen area of their house until they were left with just a bedroom for their own personal space. I don't know that Bob really minded so much, but I would imagine that in their later years Gramma became more interested in (once again) having a home of her own. They sold off both parts of their very successful business - the retail operation was sold and moved to Penngrove, California, and the mobile unit was sold to my parents.

We remain today a family owned and operated business. My folks travel to horse shows with the mobile unit some 40 weeks out of the year, and I stay at home to manage the store. It is my pleasure (always) to welcome a new face and make new friends that share my passion and love for horses. We're very conveniently located just off of D Street in Petaluma - should you find yourself making a trip to Rivertown Feed, stop by and check us out.
